5 DIY dog toys ideas: 4 homemade toys for dogs and…even 1 for both your cat and your doggy!
It is all about dogs! And of course, all about playing with your dog or dogs.
With more than 400 breeds, dogs are a varied lot. Some are furry, some are not; Some are large and others small…but great for this activity…they all have paws!
We love our adorable bundle of fur who lick our faces and we feel peaceful when we pet them…the dog is man’s best friend!
I promise these Four DIY activities will not leave you dog-tired by the time you are done ๐
You need to be cautious with the dogs, homemade toys are tricky. Dogs chew a lot and could pull toys apart easily.
#1: The easiest ones: (you canโt go wrong with this homemade toy): put some peanut butter on the inside of a ball or a plastic bottle (cut out the bottom of the bottle). You can re-use an old tennis ball.
If your dog loves noise, you could directly insert some treats in a plastic bottle. Choose a strong plastic bottle, though to ensure that your dog will not pull it apart.
Guessing game: do you know how many tennis balls a dog has held in its mouth at one time?

#2: For the sporty ones: playing Frisbee. If your goal is to wear your dog out, this homemade toy is for you. Just throw a disc and your dog will catch it.
Simply use a green plant pot…only the saucer part though ๐ and plastic saucers are the best (avoid clay…it will break immediately).
Or glue 5-10 paper plates (depending of the paper quality).
#3: If you want to keep your dog mentally stimulated, the dog puzzle is for you!

Place some smelly treats in a few of the holes in a old muffin tin, cover all the holes with tennis ball or toys and let your dog figure out how to remove the toys/balls to get the treats. If you are looking for more ideas, please check out the blog of myollie.com.
# 4: If your dog loves to chew, you can make him a DIY dog rope.
For this one you can use either pajama pants, a blanket or t-shirts. Take your scissors and follow step by step the video of Pickels Pets. It will not take you more than 10 minutes to do it.
#5: This one is my favorite: because you are sharing an art & craft activity with your doggy!
Take water based paint, construction paper…and your dog or paw. Apply the color you like on your pawโs dog or cat and press it on the paper. While the paper will dry, donโt forget to wash their paw. Use it to make cards, decorate your home or anything you want!
You can also go for a pawprint with salt dough. Mix 1 cup of fine salt with 1 cup warm water. Itโs optional but you can even add a little food coloring. Mix well and add 2 cups flour. Knead everything with your hands and form a ball. Let it rest for a few minutes and itโs ready!
Pick the shape you want, a circle, a heart and use your dog or cat paw to let their print in the dough. Think about adding the date for a beautiful memory.
After making, let dry at least 24 hours before baking maximum 100 degrees for 3 hours.
Is the opposite of a negative a paw-sitive? If yes we are all paw-sitives that we love to play with our doggies. But remember the dog park is a perfect place for them to hang out with their peers just as their ancestors, the wolves were pack animals, too!ย
